Wholesome Birthkeeping Experience

The Wholesome Birthkeeping experience provides 6 at-home visits, support during labor, birth, and early postpartum, breastfeeding guidance, belly binding, and holistic therapies for recovery after birth

Labor & Birth

I provide continuous support from the beginning of your active labor until two hours after your birth. During this time I offer positioning guidance, guided relaxation techniques, and traditional tools for pain management, emotional and physical openness, and spiritual containment.

Postpartum visits

You receive my support up to 2 hours after your birth. I can help you with initiating breastfeeding, with meal preparation, and tidying up your birth space. If at the hospital, I ensure you are fed and settled in your room before leaving.

On your first postpartum visit, I visit you a day after your birth (if at home) or after being discharged from the hospital, to provide you with meal preparation, support you with belly binding and guidance with newborn care.

Your second postpartum visit can happen a week after birth, and I will provide you and your baby with a restorative herbal bath (first bath of mom & baby), cleaning of your bath space & meal preparation.

Your third visit is open to your needs, either with placenta honoring services or closing of your postpartum experience. Always including meal preparation and support, keeping your nesting space tidy and refreshed.

Prenatal visits

On our first visit, we get familiar with your birth plan and how it aligns with the values of your birth and parenting vision. We identify your individual needs and create a personalized resource hub for you and your family. Enjoy a guided meditation and a relaxing foot soak.

On our second visit, we focus on care for the body, rest, nutrition, and movement. We'll work on the creation of a personalized meal plan and enjoy a guided movement practice, followed by a restorative sleep practice.

On your third visit, we will work on labor preparation and get to experience a relaxing herbal bath.

You'll have access to my remote support and my availability to respond to your questions.

Frequently asked questions

What is a wholesome birthkeeping service?

This could be classified as a Full-spectrum Doula Service. I bring my ancestral knowledge, wisdom, and skills to your experience to ensure you are supported and tended to during your pregnancy, labor & birth, and postpartum. My wholesome birthkeeping service is not a medical service or a replacement for the medical care a Midwife or any other medical professional could give you. It is more of a personal service that enhances your preparation for birth, your birth, and postpartum experience by providing holistic support to you and your family.

How does your wholesome birthkeeping service work?

I offer an open 40-minute consultation called Your dignified birth vision consult, in which we determine if we can walk your birthing journey together. If so, I send you a booking form to collect your information, to sign an agreement of rights and responsibilities, and to determine the preferred compensation method. After this has been completed, you receive access to a client portal and my calendar availability to book your first prenatal visit. My booking process is simple, clear, and convenient for you.

What is the value of your wholesome birthkeeping services?

The value of my wholesome birthkeeping services is $2900.

What are your inclusion criteria? Can just anybody work with you?

My wholesome birthkeeping services are for anybody who seeks an empathetic, caring, calm, and well-resourced presence during their pregnancy, birth, & postpartum. I draw on Indigenous traditions from South America in my practice, but my focus is always on helping you connect with the tools and wisdom from the ancestral traditions relevant to your unique birthing experience. Together, we can create a personalized approach that honors your story and supports your needs during pregnancy, birth & postpartum.

My wholesome birthkeeping services are ideal for first-time parents, for those who know that they may need extra guidance and hands-on support in their experience, and for those who have had previous traumatic experiences and need help building confidence & dignifying their birth journey.

Whether you need reassurance, guidance, space holding for your emotions, or hands-on help, my goal is to offer tailored support that creates the conditions necessary to have an empowering birth experience.

Do you have a refund policy?

Yes, services are not refundable or transferable. However, additions to your service can be made as we move forward in your birthing journey; you will be required to sign a separate agreement and will be invoiced accordingly. If by Force Majeure events, I can't provide a service that cannot be rescheduled, such as the birth, you will be covered by a backup provider at no extra cost to you. I reserve the right to cease service and return your investment minus expenses incurred if our agreement is not respected at any point of the journey. For more detailed information, visit my terms and conditions page.

How is your wholesome birthkeeping service different from your birth companion services?

The main difference between wholesome birthkeeping and birth companion experience is the amount of time I devote to your support. While in the birth companion services, I support your labor, birth, and early postpartum, in the wholesome birthkeeping services, I provide support during your pregnancy, labor, birth, and at least until day 40 postpartum.  In the wholesome birthkeeping experience, I also provide you with materials and organic homemade snacks for every visit and tend to your knowledge-sharing sessions in a more in-depth one-on-one capacity. If you have a solid support system and consider that 6 at-home visits are unnecessary, or your budget does not allow you to accommodate my wholesome birthkeeping services, I encourage you to visit my Birth Companion Page. You will be able to have my company and holistic support during labor and birth, and early postpartum.

How is your wholesome birthkeeping service different from a birth doula service?

This wholesome birthkeeping services differ from my own birth doula services (covered by insurance) in time and depth of involvement in your experience. In both services, I support your labor and birth, but in my wholesome birthkeeping services I also support your preparation for birth, during pregnancy, and extend care until your 40th day postpartum. As a wholesome birthkeeper, I provide you with a nourishing broth and organic fruit for each visit. I provide you with one-on-one knowledge share, personalized resources and materials to spark creativity and bring resourcefulness to you and your family, as well as guided self-care practices for you to keep as tools in your parenting experience. Also, while for my birthkeeping services I reserve exclusive time for tending by taking one family per birth month, as a birth doula covered by insurance I cannot do the same unfortunately. My birth doula services are regulated by insurance policies, and so are all other doulas who accept insurance.

About the wholesome birthkeeping I offer compared to other doula services, know that doula services are as different as the people offering them. Also, there are different kinds of doulas, and doula trainings that tend to different needs.

I like to call my support services birthkeeping services to let people know that they are holistic, trauma-informed, family and ancestors-centered, and more in alignment with nature and her spirituality. I am an immigrant, I encourage wholesome eating, I have a grounding presence and a solid self-care and ancestral veneration practice. I grow with the herbs that help me in self-care preparations and cooking, and take care of you and your birth as in ceremony. My practice has been greatly nurtured by the traditional birth attendant spiritual principles of my elders and teachers, and that is what I try my best to offer to you while using the full-spectrum doula framework.

Your birthkeeper

Hi! I'm Iveth Balanta, your birthkeeper. I help families feel dignified in their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experiences by providing care that is tailored to their unique stories and needs. Even though my story as a birth keeper started almost 19 years ago, I've been serving people as a Certified Full-Spectrum Doula in the Las Vegas Valley for over 3 years now.

I am from Abya Yala (Colombia, South America), my people are Inga, Quillacinga, Balanta, and settler Spaniards. I speak Spanish and English. I love to garden and spend time with nature and all her beings, I love music and dancing, and I love spending quality time with my daughter.

I believe in the land as Mother and source of our holistic well-being, and I do my best to foster resilience, empowerment, and sovereignty in the lives of those I cross paths with by birth keeping with presence, through the spirituality of nature, with the help of my plant companions and teachers, and with the blessing of my ancestors.
